It is my privilege to introduce myself as the new Otford Primary School Assistant Head Teacher, in charge of Inclusion. I have twenty-five years teaching experience, thirteen years as SENCO, nine years as Deputy Head Teacher and have worked in three primary schools. I have been a class teacher at Otford since 2016 and being a part of the school community has been a joy. Otford has a supportive, nurturing community where all children are encouraged to thrive.
As Inclusion Lead, I am committed to working with all our stakeholders to create a safe, supportive, inclusive learning environment that can be adapted to enable everyone to make progress, feel valued, build positive connections and ultimately be happy.
My vision is to promote our inclusive school values of kindness, courage and curiosity by celebrating difference, valuing ourselves as unique individuals, while promoting well-being and community.
A cycle of assess, plan, do, review will be integral in meeting our children’s specific needs to encourage children’s progress.
I am looking forward to working in partnership with our parental community and value your role in ensuring our children thrive at school. Throughout the year, I will invite parents to SEN meetings to explain our vision and practice, will have parent workshops to discuss strategies in meeting the needs of the children, as well as more informal coffee mornings.
You will see me on the playground before and after school so do come and say hello!
In the first instance, parents are encouraged to discuss any concerns relating to their child’s progress and/or learning needs with the class teacher.
