As many of you know, at Otford we have taken part in Anti-Bullying week for many years. This year Anti-Bullying Week is happening from Monday 13th – Friday 17th November - next week!
The theme for 2017 is ‘All Different, All Equal’. This fits in perfectly with our on-going celebrations of diversity, as well as our school value of kindness.
Each class will be taking part in some friendship activities and making sure the children know what to do about bullying.
THE AIMS ARE TO:
• Empower children and young people to celebrate what makes them, and others, unique.
• Help children and young people to understand how important it is that every child feels
valued and included in school, able to be themselves, without fear of bullying.
• Encourage parents and carers to work with their school and talk to their children about
bullying, difference and equality.
• Enable teachers and school support staff to celebrate what makes us ‘all different, all
equal’ by celebrating difference and equality and taking individual and collective action to
prevent bullying, creating safe environments where children can be themselves.
On Monday we would like to hold an 'Odd Socks Day'. It’s a fun opportunity for children to express themselves and appreciate individuality and uniqueness! Throughout the week our school Mentors will be on the playground before school and towards the end of the day with collection buckets for the Anti-Bullying Alliance. There is no pressure to contribute and the most important thing is that our school community celebrates the message of Odd Socks Day.
